Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's April 2011 Vogue

Check out the April 2011 issue of Vogue magazine for an  interview with the up and coming fashion moguls. The dynamic fashion duo are known, for their bohemian look, which has sometimes been known to be  a borderline bag lady look from some perspectives, but in my opinion I think they have a very chic and comfortable style. They experiment with fabrics and colors and turn out hit after fashionable hit. Keep up the good work girls!

The bohemian style also known as boho style has been making a strong showing in the last few years, but this is not the bohemian style of old that we are used to. This new bohemian look has been called boho chic because of the attempt to make the style a little more chic and not so cluttered.

The term bohemian comes from the word La Boheme, it was used to describe the bands of gypsies that traveled through Bohemia. Today it is a term usually used to describe an artistic and free-spirited type of lifestyle. In my opinion the boho style is an attitude that happens to reflect in your way of dressing, maybe that is why some people pull off the look so effortlessly.

To read more about bohemian/bohemianism see the article Bohemianism.

To pull off the boho chic look the art of accessorizing and layering are essential. Tunics, caftans, flowing dresses, skirts and tops, beaded tops, fringes, hobo type handbags, paired with big and bold jewelry. The boho look even has its own hairstyles. The key is to make these pieces fit together without overdoing it.

I plan to dedicate a few posts to covering the art of boho dressing. I welcome any comments or suggestions and even pictures of your favorite boho outfits.
